FT NATOs Rutte warned Trump about the bad Ukraine agreement

According to Rutte, a bad agreement for Ukraine would send the wrong message to China, Iran and North Korea.

The United States faces a serious threat from China, Iran and North Korea if Ukraine is forced into a bad peace agreement with Russia, says NATO’s secretary general Mark Rutte.

Rutte told of the Financial Times (FT) in an interview that he mentioned the matter to the future president of the United States For Donald Trump at their meeting in late November.

He mentioned the risks associated with Russia supplying missile technology to North Korea and sending money to Iran.

Rutte says that the Chinese president Xi Jinping “might get some ideas about something else in the future, if [Ukrainalle] you won’t get a good deal”.

FT believes Rutte is referring to Taiwan.

Rutte also pointed out the risks associated with supplying Russian missile technology to North Korea and supplying money to Iran.

– We cannot allow a situation where [Pohjois-Korean johtaja] Kim Jong Unthe leader of Russia [Vladimir Putin], Xi Jinping and Iran are asking for top votes because we have made a deal that is not good for Ukraine. In the long term, it would be a serious security threat – not only for Europe, but also for the United States, Rutte told FT.

NATO foreign ministers meet in Brussels

The foreign ministers of the NATO countries will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday in Brussels. In his letter to his NATO colleagues before the meeting, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that extending the NATO invitation to Ukraine would remove one of Russia’s main justifications for its war, namely preventing Ukraine from joining NATO.

according to diplomats interviewed by the Reuters news agency, it is highly unlikely that NATO would respond to Ukraine’s request for a membership invitation at its Tuesday meeting.
