With Smile – Do you see it too? Director Parker Finn has presented one of the big horror surprise hits of recent years. With Smile 2: Do you see it too? The sequel to the success was released in October of this year – and for me it is nothing less than the best horror film of 2024.
If you missed the sequel in the cinema, you will soon be able to stream Smile 2 in the home cinema. Already in two weeks, on December 16, 2024the sequel will be available as a download in the best UHD quality.
Smile 2 is the best horror film of the year
In part 2, the successful pop singer Skye (Naomi Scott) is about to start a big world tour. But when a high school friend (Lukas Gage) cruelly kills himself before her eyes, her life gets derailed. Anyone who has seen the predecessor already knows that the demonic curse of the grotesque grin will make her life hell from now on.

After Smile, which for me was a solid horror film with a promising concept, the sequel fully fulfills its potential. Parker Finn has created an incredibly good shock inferno here every single horror sequence is so shocking, goosebump-inducing or pure panic-inducing That’s why I sometimes could hardly breathe in the cinema seat because of the tension.
But Smile 2 is not just a technical improvement and a clear improvement over its predecessor thanks to the even more ingeniously designed horror factor. With Skye as the protagonist, the film also shines with an outstanding acting performance from leading actress Naomi Scott.
Because the director always connects the most bizarre horror moments with Skye’s inner life and Smile 2 functions as a deeply touching, personal drama about a broken person in the spotlight, the second part is one of the very rare genre sequels.
In contrast, Smile 1 seems like a harmless, nice finger exerciseafter which the really big, unleashed spectacle follows.
You can rent Smile 2 cheaper from January 2025
If you don’t want to buy the horror sequel digitally at full price, you just have to wait until January 7, 2025 be patient. Then Smile 2 appears as a video-on-demand version at a cheaper rental price from providers such as Amazon Prime.
If you would like to put the film on your shelf, you can buy the sequel as Blu-ray, DVD or 4K UHD Steelbook in stores from January 23, 2025.
