Värmlänning suspected of sexual abuse in Norway – continues to work in a Swedish treatment home

In early 2024, a girl who lived at a corresponding HVB home (Barnevernsinstitusjon) in eastern Norway reported that she had been sexually assaulted by an employee at the facility. During the investigation, the suspected abuse of four more girls at the home emerged.

Girl took her own life

The employee is a 55-year-old man from Värmland, who has now been charged on suspicion of, among other things, sexual abuse and attempted rape against five girls at the residence. The girl who first reported the man took her own life shortly after the suspicions became known.

The Värmlänningen has been released pending trial.

Now the newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) reveals that the native of Värmland has returned to Sweden, and works as a treatment assistant at a care home in a Swedish municipality.

Information that neither the Norwegian nor the Swedish police are aware of.

The municipality confirms employment

VG has also spoken to the Swedish municipality that has employed the man. The municipality confirms that the man has a part-time job, but does not want to comment more than that.

In a text message to the Norwegian television company NRK the Värmlander claims that he is innocent of all charges.

The trial against the man is expected to begin in early March 2025.
