The classic train through Vietnam takes 30 hours from Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in the south. But that will change. In ten years, new high-speed trains will cover the 1,500 kilometers in five hours.
This weekend, the National Assembly clubbed the construction with a budget of 1.7 billion dong, equivalent to 730 billion kroner, news agencies from Hanoi report.
The timetable is ambitious, with planned construction starting in just over two years and completion by the year 2035.
