TO SKATE Bart Hoolwerf has won the mass start at the World Cup long track speed skating events in Beijing. The 26-year-old skater from Eemdijk pushed his skate across the finish line a fraction earlier than Belgian Bart Swings, the Olympic champion. The bronze went to the Italian Daniele Di Stefano, last week’s winner in Nagano. Hoolwerf then came third. (Sunday December 1)
