Less than a year before the presidential election in Ivory Coast, Simone Ehivet, ex-wife of former president Laurent Gbagbo, is officially a candidate. She received the nomination of her own party, the Movement of Capable Generations (MGC) this Saturday, November 30, 2024, two years after its creation, in Moossou, the native village of the former first lady.

Several hundred MGC supporters gathered under arbors – with one goal: to support Simone Ehivet, like these two activists.
“ She is a fighting woman. She has proven herself for the Republic of Ivory Coast alongside her ex-husband. After several hours of waiting, the candidate finally appears. At his side, on the podium, opposition executives: a vice-president of the PDCI-RDA, or the head of Cojep, Charles Blé Goudécurrently ineligible.
Food sovereignty, industrialization
“ I speak to you from the heart », Launched the MGC candidate. In her half-hour speech, Simone Ehivet will present her priorities: national reconciliation through an amnesty, food sovereignty, industrialization, or even the establishment of compulsory military and civic services.
