In the polling station survey that the public service company RTÉ and the newspaper The Irish Times publishes, the three largest parties all look to get between 19 and 21 percent of the vote.
Conservative Fine Gael gets 21 percent and their coalition partner, right-liberal Fianna Fáil, gets 19.5 percent.
At the same time, left-wing nationalist Sinn Féin also gets 21 percent. Thus, protracted government negotiations are likely to await.
According to RTÉ, just over 50 percent of the 3.6 million registered voters chose to cast their ballots, which is slightly less than the 2020 election.
