Russia is creating ten times more missile systems than NATO

Putin praises Russian missiles • “Unparalleled around the world” • The threats before 2025

Russia’s economy is doing worse than in a very long time, but despite this, the country manages to produce large quantities of weapons.

In connection with his visit to Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin issued a new threat: Russia is ready to use the Oreshnik – the country’s new hypersonic robot – against Kiev. Late Thursday night, a longer statement was released about the Russian arms industry, which Putin claims is in many ways superior to NATO’s.

– Regarding the production of relevant missile systems and relevant equipment, Russia produces ten times more of them than the combined production of all NATO countries. Next year we will increase production by another 25 to 30 percent, says Putin.

– We can see that the leaders of the Kiev regime are begging their masters for military equipment. Let no one forget the Kalibr, Kinzhal and Zirkon, hypersonic missile systems unmatched around the world in terms of their technical specifications. The production of them is also being stepped up and is in full swing, he continues.

Price new Oresjnik

Russia’s president continues to praise the country’s weapons systems.

– The Oreshnik system, of course, has no equivalents in the world, and I doubt that we will see anything comparable in the foreseeable future, says Putin.

– As of today, we have several systems of this type ready to be put into operation. Of course, as mentioned earlier, we will continue to respond to ongoing attacks on Russian territory carried out by Western long-range missiles. This may include further testing of the Oreshnik system under combat conditions, which was successfully demonstrated on November 21.

According to military experts such as the news agency Reuters talked to, however, Oreshnik is not as new as Putin claims and the system is based on the reuse of previous technology.

– It is a series of old technologies put together in a new way, says Jeffrey Lewis, director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program, at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California, to the news agency.

Blaming each other for escalation

Lewis also says that using the Oreschnik with conventional warheads is an expensive way to “not cause as much destruction.” Many observers have come to the same conclusion and few believe that the hypersonic robot will be used so many more times against Ukraine.

The Russian leader continues to blame Ukraine – and its allies – for escalating the situation, as the US, UK and France gave Ukraine the green light to fire long-range missiles at targets in Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy responds to the Russian threat to X:

“Putin is the only one responsible for this war and the only one who believes in it. His current escalation is nothing more than a pressure strategy, aimed at forcing the US president to accept Russia’s terms later. We understand all existing threats,” writes the Ukrainian president.
