It’s a bargain, reduced by several thousand euros. Reddit prevents the lucky person from losing their PC with RTX 4090 straight away.

What kind of PC did the player buy? Reddit user PrestigeMaster reported on a six-hour trip in the pcmasterrace subreddit during which he hunted down a real bargain: a gaming PC with an Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 and an Intel Core i9-13900K for the equivalent of just under 1,100 euros.
According to Techpowerup, the 4090 is still the fastest gaming GPU almost two years after its launch. The Intel CPU is no longer at the top, but is still in the top ten (via hardwaredealz).
As prices on eBay for used hardware show, he would have saved at least 1,000 euros in Germany – the GPU alone is around 1,800 euros. With CPU, mainboard, SSD and RAM, the total value should be more than 2,500 euros.
The Reddit community was able to share in PrestigeMaster’s journey home with his bargain – luckily for him. After the purchase, he posted a photo of the loaded back seat of the car. Then someone discovered a detail that could have cost the lucky new owner his PC.

The load on the graphics card is heavy
What caused the player to almost destroy the PC? Reddit user Carl_Chocolate advised the lucky buyer to support the GPU or lay down the computer. If a PC is transported upright, there is a risk of destroying the PCI Express slot through which the graphics card is connected to the mainboard or even destroying the graphics card entirely.
When there is a shock, the entire weight of the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 repeatedly falls down and tears at the base. Neither the socket nor the connection on the graphics card in the socket is designed for this. In addition, this special graphics card is a large and correspondingly heavy device.
The rest of the hardware is less at risk even when standing upright. But the CPU cooler also feels more comfortable when the PC is lying down while driving.
What solution did PrestigeMaster find? Lying down wasn’t an option, there wasn’t enough space for that, as he reported in a comment directly under the post. He stopped straight away and did something: he squeezed air out of an empty plastic bottle and clamped it under the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 so that it rested on top. Nevertheless, he found the three-hour drive home to be a strenuous affair.
In our expert opinion, his solution is okay, but it would have been even better to add the PC. He would have secured it optimally and saved himself a lot of sweat if he had removed it and placed it in a safe and padded container.
