On social networks, it is more and more common to see videos of influencers showing themselves naturally, without makeup. This new trend has a name: Real skin, reminding us that perfect skin does not, in reality, exist.
On Instagram as on TikTok, influencers reveal themselves naturally. A trend that unwinds, reminding us that natural skin is not perfect.
Without filter, without retouching and without makeup: the Real Skin trend shows skin naturally
The hashtag #RealSkin has gained momentum in recent months, showing the importance of the phenomenon. Content creators thus show themselves naturally, without makeup, retouching or filter. And behind this trend is the idea of encouraging those who follow them to accept their skin, as it is.
Perfect skin does not exist
Pimples, dark circles, enlarged pores, acne scars and even imperfections are shown in broad daylight, in photos on Instagram. Because social networks far too often advocate a reality that does not exist, whether that be a perfect, flawless complexion or a dream life, without the slightest problem. This wave of authenticity and transparency is therefore welcomed and much appreciated: it reminds us that everyone is faced with the same reality.
Videos promoting self-acceptance
On TikTok, the video format allows you to go further. Beauty influencers can show the contrast between their real skin and the “corrected” one. In return, the comments from Internet users are kind. They appreciate this breath of fresh air and this movement which extols self-acceptance, even with spots or a dull complexion.
