According to the UN, eight children are among the civilians killed in attacks in Syria this week.
In Syria, Russian-backed government forces and Turkish-backed jihadist fighters are waging the worst fighting in years in Aleppo and elsewhere in the northwest of the country. The rebels have already reached the border of the city of Aleppo, where they have detonated, among other things, two car bombs, reports the news agency AP.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that rebels fighting against the government have already taken control of more than 50 towns and villages. According to it, 255 people have died in the fighting. Most are fighters, but there are also civilians.
Many have died in airstrikes carried out by Russia, which supports the government.
UN Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Syrian crisis David Carden said Friday that at least 27 civilians, including 27 children, have been killed in the week’s fighting.
According to the UN, 14,000 people are fleeing the fighting.
– We are very concerned about the situation, Corden told the news agency Reuters.
According to him, civilians and civilian targets should not be targets for warring parties.
