Clear criticism in Norway after Frida Karlsson’s performance in the premiere

We got to see an incredible display by Frida Karlsson.
Where she crushed Therese Johaug by a whopping 46 seconds.
Now there is clear criticism from Norway after the premiere in Ruka.

It was set for a highly dramatic premiere of the World Cup in Ruka with the Norwegian skiing queen Therese Johaug back again. Instead it was Frida Karlsson which stole all the attention in Finland.

Karlsson’s presentation

The Swedish skiing star was totally superior in 10 kilometers and won the premiere race by a whopping 46 seconds ahead of rival Johaug. A most impressive performance that sends shock waves and nightmares to Norway.
– It is a violent demonstration of power by Karlsson. A real warning shot, says the TV expert Niklas Dyrhaug in Norwegian Viaplay.
– She is in a class of her own. It is simply a knockout at Johaug, says the former cross-country skier Anders Aukland in NRK.

Therese Johaug took an early lead in Ruka, but it was clear that she had to struggle with her hold in the ski track. Especially on the uphills, the Norwegian star was forced to cut a bit early to get up.

Clear criticism in Norway

Now a clear criticism is being aired in the home country of Norway after seeing Frida Karlsson win by far.
“Karlsson went better technically than Johaug, who struggled with slippery skis,” writes the Norwegian TV2 profile Petter S. Skinstad with harsh words on X, see the post below.
“Two out of three races so far this season with bad skis at Johaug. There needs to be work on the ski team and for the riding team before the WC”.

Norwegian ski queen Johaug does not want to blame the skis after the second place in the World Cup premiere, but wants to pay tribute to Frida instead. Nor was she surprised by the Swede’s high capacity.
– No, I’m not. It has happened before, that if you have been injured and trained so much, it has not been completely wrong, says Johaug to Swedish Viaplay.
– I haven’t done that many races in the last two years. So I’m happy with being second. But Frida is in a class of her own.
