And all of this with the best cast imaginable for the apocalypse.
You can stream the two zombie comedies one after the other on Amazon Prime.
To (un)laugh to death: That’s what the Zombieland films on Amazon Prime are about
After one worldwide zombie apocalypse Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) meets Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) while searching for his parents in Part 1 from 2009. The two already have some comedy potential together, but a little later they meet two other travelers. However, Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) are not initially friends, but rather use their experience as con artists.
In the second part of 2019, the four companions are traveling together and the mission remains the same. Like a video game come the second part new zombie species which the protagonists have to nibble on quite a bit. The post-apocalypse has become part of everyday life and the small surrogate family longs even more for a zombie-free refuge.
Completely different from the biggest zombie franchise of recent years, The Walking Dead, there are only zombies here stupid, poorly dressed and unwashed creepswhich barely make a clear sound. The seriousness and horror give way to the goofiness of these creatures.
Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg & Co.: The unique cast makes the zombie double so entertainingZombieland wouldn’t be half as good if it weren’t for the great actors:
Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock are a bunch of slobs create a lot of comedy potential because of their differences. Eisenberg, Harrelson, Stone and Breslin harmonize fantastically with each other. It starts with the way they deal with the apocalypse. The fearful Columbus relies on rules, 47 in total. The daredevil Tallahassee trusts his strength. Wichita and Little Rock, on the other hand, are smart and clever, which makes for an entertaining mix.
Ever since Easy A it has been clear that Emma Stone is made for comedies. Jesse Eisenberg impresses as always with his “awkwardness”. It’s all topped off with Woody Harrelson’s moody Texan daredevil attitude. He leaves the thinking to the anxious teenagers. Again and again, with a wink, without dwelling too much on sadness, references are made to the time before the post-apocalypse. Little Rock most closely embodies lost youth, but is clearly unimpressed by it.
The tear glands are stimulated in the intro to The Walking Dead. At least after ten episodes they are worn out. The Zombieland films, on the other hand, are the perfect change and are stimulating a total of 187 minutes Guaranteed to make your stomach muscles burst with laughter.
