Police: Collision revealed intimate partner crime in Norfolk

When Norfolk OPP started investigating a collision in Delhi, they learned it was also an incident of intimate partner violence.

Police found a sedan vehicle left the road and rolled over on Pinegrove Road in Delhi just before 7 pm on Nov. 27.

Officers learned there had been an assault between the two occupants inside the vehicle just before the collision and a previous assault at another location before the accident.

The victim had minor injuries and a 27-year-old was taken into custody.

That person has been charged with two counts of spousal assault, domestic mischief, dangerous driving, driving while impaired by alcohol and driving while impaired by a blood-alcohol concentration of over 80, and is to appear in Simcoe court later.

Three sought after overnight break-and-enter in Brant

Police have released photos of three suspects after a large amount of product was stolen early Wednesday from a Paris business.

Brant OPP said they responded to a break-and-enter on Rest Acres Road at 3:25 am where, moments earlier, three men stole tools, faucets and door locks, among other items.

The men left in a white-colored van that has notable damage to the rear passenger side.

Police said the suspects and the same vehicle may be connected to similar occurrences in surrounding areas.

They are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Man accused of stealing pickup in August

A Norfolk man suspected of stealing a pickup truck in August, eventually found in the far north, has been arrested.

Norfolk OPP said the 31-year-old was nabbed at about 1 pm on Nov. 27 after he was identified as the suspect accused of taking the truck from a Cockshutt Road address in Norfolk County back on Aug. 6.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered on Murray Point Road in Parry Sound, Ontario.

The man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and breaching a probation order.

He’ll appear in Simcoe court on Dec. 17.

Brantford person charged in Paris

A 37-year-old Brantford person has been charged after police were called to an intimate partner violence situation in Brant County.

OPP officers responded to a disturbance at about 2 pm in Paris on Nov. 25 and charged a person with breaching an undertaking and was to appear for a bail hearing in Brantford.
