Netanyahu said he would do everything he could to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon News in brief

Israel’s prime minister said earlier this week that a ceasefire with Hezbollah would allow Israel to focus on Iran.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that he was ready to do everything possible to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

– I will do everything I can to prevent it from becoming a nuclear weapon state. I am going to use all the resources that can be used, Netanyahu said in the interview.

Israel’s prime minister said earlier this week that a ceasefire with Hezbollah would allow Israel to focus on Iran. He did not specify what kind of actions he meant.

Israel has never publicly admitted that the country has nuclear weapons, despite popular belief.

Iran has repeatedly stated that it considers itself entitled to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. However, the country has enriched uranium to much stronger concentrations, which is needed for nuclear energy.

Netanyahu also announced on Thursday that the country’s military is ready to return to full-scale war if the Iranian-backed Hezbollah extremist organization violates the ceasefire agreement.

Earlier on Thursday, the Lebanese army accused Israel of violating the agreement. According to Lebanon, Israel has carried out airstrikes and other attacks on Lebanon. According to the Israeli armed forces, these were cases in which the ceasefire had already been violated.
