The EU Parliament demands new elections in Georgia
The parliamentary elections in Georgia on 26 October were neither free nor fair, the EU Parliament believes. In a non-binding resolution, passed by 444 yes votes to 72 no on Thursday, it is therefore required that the election be redone within a year.
The EU Parliament also wants to see personal sanctions against a number of heavy-handed politicians in Georgia. This applies, among others, to the oligarch and former prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, the current prime minister Irakli Kobachidze and the former football star Kacha Kaladze – now mayor of the capital Tbilisi and secretary general of the governing party Georgian Dream.

If children under 16 can still access social media, the companies risk fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars, equivalent to roughly 355 million Swedish kronor.
The country is the first in the world to introduce the ban.
The country’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese claims that too much time on social media poses a risk to children’s physical and mental health.

Russia: The attack our response to Ukraine’s weapons from the West
Russia’s large-scale attack on Thursday is a response to Ukraine’s use of British and American long-range missiles. That’s what President Putin says, reports The Telegraph.
Putin states that Russia is now targeting new targets in Ukraine, which could include “centers for decision-making”.
He also says Russia could use its new medium-range Oreshnik robot on a larger scale. The power of such efforts could be equivalent to a nuclear attack, according to the president.
