Attention those who want to have breast aesthetics This operation

Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Fatih Doğan warned that some implant methods may prevent breastfeeding and explained what should be taken into consideration.

“IT CAN ALSO CAUSE WOMEN TO SHAME, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND SOCIAL ISOLATION”

All deformities related to the shape of the breast can cause situations such as embarrassment, anxiety, depression and social isolation in women. Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist Prof. gives information about surgeries performed to increase breast size, also known as augmentation mammoplasty. Dr. Fatih Doğan said, “Breast augmentation is the process of placing implants under the breast tissue or chest muscles. For some women, this operation is a way to feel more confident. “For some people, it is a method of reconstructing the breast for various deformities,” he said.

“THE SHAPE OF THE BREAST MAY CHANGE AFTER THE SURGERY”

Breast augmentation can be performed using certain types of implants (smooth or textured, round or teardrop, saline or silicone). Prof. Dr. Fatih Doğan listed the things to consider before deciding on surgery as follows:

  • Breast implants may interfere with breastfeeding. Depending on the preferred method of implant placement, some women are able to breastfeed successfully after breast augmentation surgery. But for others, breastfeeding can be a challenge.

  • Additional surgery may be needed after breast implant removal. If the decision is made to remove the implants, a breast lift or other corrective surgery may be needed to help restore the appearance of the breasts.

  • Silicone implants should be checked for rupture with regular scans. The FDA recommends routine monitoring with a breast MRI 5-6 years after placement to check for silicone breast implant rupture. Afterwards, a breast MRI is recommended every 2-3 years. Unless there are symptoms, ultrasound may be an alternative screening method.

“SURGERY SHOULD BE DONE IN A FULLY EQUIPPED HOSPITAL”

Stating that a basic mammography evaluation or breast ultrasonography may be needed before the surgery, Prof. Dr. Fatih Dogan; “It may also be necessary to adjust some medications before surgery. For example, it is important to avoid aspirin or other medications that can increase bleeding. If the person smokes, smoking must be stopped for approximately 4-6 weeks before and after surgery. It is important that breast augmentation surgeries are performed in fully equipped hospitals. “Generally, discharge is given one day after the procedure,” he said.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO RETURN TO WORK IN A FEW WEEKS

Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist Prof. stated that pain, swelling and bruising are likely to occur for a few weeks after the surgery. Dr. Fatih Doğan said, “The color of the scars returns to normal over time, but they do not disappear completely. There will be a line-shaped scar in the incision areas. It is recommended to wear a compression bandage, corset, or sports bra for extra support and positioning of breast implants during the healing period. Pain medication is also given. If the person does not have a physically demanding job, they can return to work within a few weeks. Strenuous activities that may increase heart rate or blood pressure should be avoided for at least two weeks. “It should not be forgotten that the breast will be sensitive to physical contact or jarring movements while healing,” he said.
