Excitement instead of bells and whistles: This should be the measure of all things in the thriller genre. But too often its representatives weaken due to a tepid story, boring productions or techniques that disturb instead of entertaining. Not so at Caddo Lake. The mystery thriller, which can now be seen in cinemas, captivates until the last second.
In the cinema: That’s what the mystery thriller Caddo Lake is about

Paris and Ellie head to the swamps in search of answers. And come across one there mysterious phenomenon, that completely changes their lives.
Why is Caddo Lake so good?
Like any good thriller, Caddo Lake knows how to use its setting: the mysterious swamps of Louisiana, ancient and mysterious, are effectively staged by directors Logan George and Celine Held. That in the dark waters a monstrous power lies hidden, becomes clear to the audience from minute 1.
But above all, it is Dylan O’Brien and Scanlen who give the film a unique pull. Both play their characters with iron devotion, making the mood of the film all the more pervasive: Paris and Ellie are drawn characters, loner, heavily burdened with the burden of the past. You want to break out and yet you are lost in the dark magnetism of the swamps.
When they both finally discover the secret of Caddo Lake and want to prevent a catastrophe, the film really gains power. The audience ultimately experiences an ending that leaves them speechless, as well as the characters. In the end, all actors are prisoners of time.
Caddo Lake has been running ever since November 28, 2024 in the cinema. It was produced by Twist king M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense).
