On the night of Wednesday, Swedish time, a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into force. That after several months of violence, death and human suffering. The agreement is partly based on Israel withdrawing from southern Lebanon within 60 days. The parties are also not allowed to attack each other, but Israel retains the right to defend itself if the agreement is broken. Several experts believe that the agreement will be kept, but at the same time the situation is extremely unstable and the question is whether a long-term peace between the parties is even possible.
Why is the ceasefire coming now? What exactly is it about? And how does that affect the situation in Gaza?
