France: should municipal police officers be armed?

France should municipal police officers be armed

Poitiers municipal police officers are threatening to strike from Sunday (December 1, 2024) and throughout the month of December. They are demanding lethal weapons, following a shooting which left one dead and four injured on October 31. Today, more than one municipal police officer in two is armed in France: is there a need for harmonization to respond to the increase in delinquency? What is the situation in other neighboring countries?

To debate it :

– Virginie Malochetsociologist at the Paris Region Institute, specialist in police organizations and local security
