(Finance) – The “The Speed of Innovation” project, born from the collaboration on circuits around the world between TIM And Ducati Corse and created in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. The initiative consists of various advanced technological solutions, which TIM Enterprise has developed with the aim of exploring new immersive experiences for enthusiasts. Thanks to 5G and the new digital Virtual Reality solutions proposed by TIM, it will be possible for visitors to the Ducati Museum to immerse themselves 360 degrees in the atmosphere of the box of the official Ducati Team in MotoGP and retrace the history of one of Borgo Panigale’s most iconic models. An exclusive journey between past and future, expressed in two experiences that can be enjoyed by wearing special viewers, which will give enthusiasts the opportunity to explore places and contents that are usually inaccessible.
In the first experience the visitor will find himself behind the scenes of MotoGP World Championship and will be able to access spaces reserved for professionals. An unprecedented adventure for fans, who will have the opportunity to discover the Ducati Lenovo Team garage led by Mauro Grassilli, Ducati Corse Sporting, Marketing&Communication director, with a 360-degree POV (Point of View) vision in video quality up to 8K. The visitor will become the protagonist and, guided by Ducati Corse experts, will be able to delve deeper into the various technical aspects linked to the bikes and the activities of the race weekend.
There second experience instead it takes the visitor into one virtual “room of wonders”, where it is possible to retrace the history of the iconic Ducati 916 through an interactive collection of images, rare historical and design documents, including the first sketches of the motorbike and vintage magazines that testify to its success.
“Today we demonstrate how technology can enhance and virtualize the cultural and historical heritage of sport and design, through immersive experiences that make this content accessible even remotely – declares Elio Schiavo, chief Enterprise and Innovative Solutions officer of TIM –. All this thanks to 5G technologies and innovative TIM Enterprise solutions such as Extended Reality. We continue our journey between past and future, making advanced digital applications available to businesses and citizens, this time introduced in the sporting world and its museums such as the Ducati one, with the aim of increasing knowledge and tourist attractiveness. It is part of the path we are taking to promote the territory and culture of our country using innovative technologies, such as Cloud, AI, IoT and Cybersecurity, to make our cities smarter”.
“The spirit of innovation is a fundamental element of the Ducati philosophy and is applied in every area and in every business process – he stated Patrizia Cianetti, Marketing & Communications director of Ducati Motor Holding SpA. –. The partnership with TIM Enterprise fits perfectly within this vision and responds to the continuous search for sophistication, one of our three main values, together with style and performance. Through these two virtual reality experiences, which accompany the visit to the Museum and the Ducati factory, we implement our mission which is to enrich people’s lives through unforgettable experiences: history and racing are two of the aspects that more than anything they inflame the passion of Ducatisti all over the world. This is a unique opportunity to let them experience something exclusive, new and exciting.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with TIM on this demonstration installation at the Ducati Museum which, thanks to the XR devices, all powered by Snapdragon Dino Flore, VP, Technology at Qualcomm Europe, Inc. –. Thanks to the power of 5G and virtual reality, the public will be able to explore the history and world of Ducati Corse.”
With this proposal, TIM creates a unique experience with solutions with high development potential for businesses, exploiting the innovation capabilities of TIM Enterprise and giving a further boost to the development of digital tourism and the diffusion of Made in Italy creativity even remotely, enhancing experiences, making them more interactive and engaging, thus attracting new segments of the public.
The digital experiences are made possible by two cutting-edge technological components: millimeter wave 5G network coverage, enabled by Qualcomm Technologies, and TIM Enterprise’s Extended Reality platform, which manages and optimizes extended reality solutions in the cloud to ensure immersive complete and interactive.
A demonstration use case of the potential of 5G connected robots for the industrial and logistics sector was also presented at the Ducati headquarters. There demo, created by TIM with the support of Bi-Rex Competence Center, involves the use of a quadruped robot for the traceability of motorbikes moved within the new Ducati logistics center in Valsamoggia, Bologna, a demonstration of the potential of collaborative robotics for the future of the industrial and logistics sector.
The project – available for the next few months at the Ducati Museum – sees the use of Meta Quest 3 and Lenovo ThinkReality VRX devices, of TIM’s millimeter wave 5G – with high bandwidth capacity and minimum latency – and of TIM Enterprise’s Extended Reality platform.
The immersive devices available at the Ducati Museum are powered by Snapdragon platforms that contain the essential technologies to offer the public an optimal experience. These include powerful on-device AI processing capabilities, perception algorithms, low-latency video and graphics.
