Fortnite introduces new tournament rules, now punishing players who have done nothing wrong but are playing with the wrong person

Fortnite wants to take stricter action against cheaters and for this reason will soon be introducing new rules for competitions. Players are encouraged to closely examine their team members.

What about cheaters in Fortnite? As in many other games, cheaters are up to mischief in Fortnite. They use unfair methods to gain advantages in the game and thus determine the outcome of a game.

This is already a nuisance in normal games, but even more so in competitions where prize money is involved. Developer Epic Games now wants to take stricter action against cheaters and has announced new measures against unfair players. The special feature: Even those who play without tricks can be punished.

Do you trust your team members?

What are the new rules? Epic Games has changed the general conditions for tournaments. First of all, in competitions from all regions there is a cash prize in the final. According to a blog entry from Epic Games, this also applies to large tournaments such as the FNCS – the Global Championships.

Anyone who uses cheats in such a competition and is caught doing so must expect to be banned from the competition for at least 28 days. However, this ban can also be extended depending on the case.

What’s special here is that not only the cheater is banned, but also all other members of his team. This can result in innocent players being banned. Epic Games advises on their website: “Ensure you can trust your team members to avoid such penalties.”

Players who are banned for at least 14 days or longer will also not be able to participate in FNCS tournaments in the current season. But that’s not all: According to Epic Games, cheaters could also expect legal action from the developer.

With these measures we want to keep cheaters away from Fortnite and the tournaments as best as possible. By the way, players can report suspicious behavior themselves at any time.

When do the rules apply? The new rules will apply from the new season in December.

If you are unsure whether your team members are playing cleanly, you should seek clarity as soon as possible. Otherwise there is a risk of a ban. Old fans in particular can look forward to the new season: Epic Games announces a new mode that will bring joy to players from the very beginning
