The summit at Harpsund is underway.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson holds a press conference together with the heads of government from the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
– The decisions we make in the coming months will echo for generations to come, says the prime minister.
Right now, a summit is taking place outside Harpsund, where City Minister Ulf Kristersson is bringing together the heads of government from seven countries in Northern Europe – Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Poland.
– Cooperation in this circle of countries has never been closer than it is right now, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The meeting extends over two days to discuss the security situation in the Baltic Sea region and the long-term support for Ukraine.
– It is up to us which fate we choose. The decisions we make will echo for decades to come. Freedom is never free, says Ulf Kristersson during Tuesday’s press conference.

The summit goes against Trump’s peace plan
In a statement, which was also signed by Iceland and Lithuania, the Northern European leaders stand behind Ukraine’s victory plan – where they call for a “just and sustainable peace”.
– It must prevent, contest and fight back against Russian aggression, says Ulf Kristersson.
It is the opposite of what US President-elect Donald Trump has signaled about how he wants to end the war. Sources have described it as Trump’s plan containing significant concessions to Vladimir Putin.
