It relieves joint pain.

Cold and humidity tend to intensify pain due to rheumatism and inflammatory diseases such as gout. In France, almost one in 3 people suffer from rheumatism and musculoskeletal pain, with a greater prevalence in women. Fortunately, there are herbs that help relieve painful joints.

Recognized for its strengthening, circulatory and anti-inflammatory power, one of them is particularly effective. Used since the dawn of time, it is one of the best-known herbal remedies which accompanies women at all stages of their lives: from periods to menopause, including joint problems as they age. It is therefore no coincidence that its botanical name “Artemisia vulgaris” comes from the name Artemis, Greek goddess of wild nature and femininity.

Thanks to its well-known anti-inflammatory properties, it is one of the basic remedies of the Japanese, particularly on the island of Okinawa where people live particularly long and in good health.“, explains Yukie Miyaguni, dietitian and expert in traditional Japanese food in the documentary “100 years of fullness: the secret of the blue zones”. Several studies, including one published in the scientific journal “Metabolites“, highlighted the anti-inflammatory effect, in particular thanks to the presence of its active substance, artemisinin which is capable of attenuating the production of cytokines, proteins involved in the mechanisms of inflammation.

This plant with anti-inflammatory benefits is mugwort (also called “common mugwort”). Its taste is reminiscent of mint, juniper and artichoke. She is most often consumed as a herbal tea at a rate of 20 to 30 grams of dried leaves per liter of water, to infuse for around ten minutes covered. Warning: do not drink more than 2 to 3 mugs per day and seek the advice of a doctor or specialist pharmacist before drinking it regularly. Mugwort has several contraindications. It is not recommended in cases of breastfeeding, pregnancy, in people suffering from epilepsy, ovarian cysts, mastoses, or with a history of hormone-dependent cancers, as well as in young children.
