Actually, the community only needs to raise $20,000, because the James A. Beattie Foundation has committed to matching all Giving Tuesday donations to the hospital, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000, said the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation in a media release.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement dedicated to giving back, celebrated each year on the first Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
“Fluoroscopy is a cornerstone of modern diagnostic imaging,” said foundation president and CEO Christine Mitchell, in the release.
“From real-time imaging to guiding complex procedures, this machine will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes across our community,” she added.
The diagnostic imaging machine comes with a price tag of $972,000 according to the foundation.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the James A. Beattie Foundation for their matching gift and to this wonderful community for their ongoing support,” Mitchell said. “We can’t wait to see how everyone steps up to participate in this global generosity movement.”
The current fluoroscopy machine at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is nearing its end of service, making its replacement a priority, the foundation said.
“We believe in the power of community and the profound impact of giving,” said Jack Morrison, president of the James A. Beattie Foundation in the release.
“We know that by supporting the purchase of this fluoroscopy machine, we’ll have a real impact for local hospital patients, and we hope that people will respond generously, because generosity is what strengthens our community and helps us build a brighter future,” Morrison said.
Donations for this matching initiative can be made online at www.ckhaf.ca/giving-tuesday before or on Tuesday, the foundation said.
