Sledgehammer Games studio under Activision will play the leading role in the Call of Duty game, which will be released in 2027.
According to the latest news, the future of the Call of Duty series continues to take shape. TheGhostOfHope, a reliable leak source, stated that Sledgehammer Games’ next Call of Duty game (Advanced Warfare 2) will be released in 2027 and will follow Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 4, which is expected to be released in 2026.
Sledgehammer Games May Be Working on Advanced Warfare 2
According to TheGhostOfHope, the Call of Duty project to be undertaken by Sledgehammer Games may be the second game of the Advanced Warfare series or a completely new production. The studio has previously played important roles in the development of games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023).
As it is known, Activision assigns multiple studios to different projects at the same time to ensure that the Call of Duty series meets players with a new game every year. In this way, it offers variety to the players while maintaining the tempo of the series.
According to the data shared by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which was released in October, broke many records of the series. The game’s simultaneous availability on Game Pass, consoles and PC platforms helped it reach the top in criteria such as total number of players, hours played and number of matches played during the first 30-day launch period.
Black Ops 6 also brought interesting innovations such as DLCs that allowed players to play as a shark. Additionally, Activision recently added Ranked Play mode to the game. Thanks to this mode, top players have the opportunity to showcase their skills using the same settings, maps, modes and weapon restrictions as in Call of Duty’s official esports league.
As we move towards 2027, it is certain that new games are on the way that will excite Call of Duty fans. We will see together how this mysterious project, shaped by the hands of Sledgehammer Games, will bring a breath of fresh air to the series.
