A newborn baby was reported missing from a neonatal unit at a hospital in Vienna on Thursday.
On Friday, the newborn girl, who was only a few days old, was found dead in a garbage container near the building, according to the police.
Now the mother, an Austrian woman in her 30s, has been arrested, reports say AP. According to local media, she has been requested to be detained by prosecutors on suspicion of murder.

According to the Austrian public service company ORF, the autopsy shows that the baby died of blunt force trauma. The girl is said to have suffered a serious brain injury and several fractures.
A nurse raised the alarm that the child had disappeared from the hospital on Thursday.
A large search effort, consisting of, among other things, police dogs and drones, was then launched over the entire hospital area.
Expanded area after questioning
The operation was later called off, but after questioning the mother, police expanded the search area.
The newborn girl was found during the morning on Friday in a garbage container nearby.
