Already during the last season, Sundling showed that she can challenge even in distance races and thus becomes a great contender for the overall World Cup and the upcoming Ski World Championships. That she is an absolutely world-class sprinter, we already know that after she won four consecutive WC golds and one Olympic gold in sprints in the last three championships.

Blomquist pays tribute to Jonna

The SVT expert Anders Blomquist is deeply impressed by Jonna Sundling and her decision to compete in both sprint and distance.
– Yes, she can win distance races and she can win sprint races. She has won two WC gold in a row and won Olympic gold there as well. If she wins another WC, it’s absolutely, absolutely crazy good and I think it drives her very, very much, says “Blomman” in a question and answer session with SVT viewers.

While other world skiers increasingly choose to specialize in either sprint or distance, it is encouraging that someone like Sundling goes his own way.
– But she noticed last winter, she won sprint races and won distance races, but she didn’t win as many as the year before. And if you want to win the WC gold in sprints, I think you need to have a series of good results if you do things right. So she could have done differently, but when she wants to win the WC gold so much, I absolutely believe that it is right, says Blomquist to the Swedes.
– I think it’s exciting and it’s fun to see skaters a bit into their career who choose new systems. I think it’s great fun and I think she’s doing the right thing.
