This weekend, the World Cup season begins with the traditional competitions in Ruka, Finland.
It is still uncertain whether Calle Halfvarsson and William Poromaa will be able to participate.
– No, or yes, or I don’t know, Calle tells Sportbladet.
One can safely state that the Swedish lords Calle Halfvarsson35, and William Poromaa23, had wished for a better start to this competitive season. The former was forced to withdraw from the sprint semi last Friday during the Sweden premiere in Bruksvallarna due to “back problems”.
– Yes, now it would have been better if I hadn’t driven. I was very good in the back this morning, then it felt like it was gone but now it’s back again, he told Sportbladet after the debacle.
William Poromaa has been ill
William Poromaa was completely absent over the weekend due to a cold. He fell ill during a training camp in Italy.
– William is back in training, but is waiting for the load that a competition weekend entails, said the coach Lars Ljung in a press release before the competitions in Bruksvallarna.

Now comes new information about the status of both men ahead of the World Cup premiere in Ruka. The Swedish squad will be taken out at 13.00 on Tuesday and before that they will both do a joint test in Östersund.
– We will be on the band at the same time and hopefully both can get to Ruka. Wille is probably a little closer than I am. I still have a bit of a problem with my back, but I hope it will work out, says Calle to Sportbladet.
Poromaa is back after his cold and is himself optimistic about Tuesday’s test run. He thinks he will join Ruka.
– I would say that it is 95 percent, but I will do a final check on Tuesday to see if it works, then I will drive, he says.
Calle Halfvarsson is a little more cautious, but it is still likely that he will be there. After Monday’s training session, he wasn’t sure if he would give the thumbs up if it felt the same way as then.
– No, or yes, or I don’t know. I want to leave it unsaid. I probably could have driven, but I don’t think it would have turned out well.
But at the same time, he reasons that as long as he does not suffer any setbacks during Tuesday, he will give a positive message.

Really hope you can join Ruka this weekend. It would feel so good with two Swedish men with experience who can challenge for the top positions together with Edvin Anger.
