Wang was superior in the final, defeating world number seven Tomokazu Harimoto 4-0 (11-2, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5) which was his third straight World Tour Finals win after titles in Doha 2023 and Xinxiang 2022.
– I’m just happy that after the match I could show three fingers to the crowd, says Wang from Fukuoka, Japan.
Wang set the tone right away in the first set, going up 10-0.
“Proportion of profits and losses”
As expected, Wang was humble in his victory speech.
– Harimoto and I have known each other for a long time. We have been opponents since we were young, we are familiar with each other’s games and have had our fair share of wins and losses, said Wang, who knocked out Truls Möregårdh in the quarters, according to the ITTF.
That Wang was able to maintain the top spot in the rankings despite the mediocre fall, including being beaten by an Iranian 14-year-old, shows how superior he was in the first half of the year.
