Then the thieves get into your car
For years, the thieves have used a tool, so-called jammer, which knocks out and blocks the car locks. In this way, they can easily get into vehicles, writes Today’s News.
– The technology is both simple and cheap. It is available for purchase wherever there is internet. Jammers are of course illegal to possess in Sweden, but this is a common method in thefts from cars, says Fredrik Lindstedtinvestigative inspector at the industry organization Larmtjänst to DN.

According to the municipal police Kristian Bergström as DN has spoken to, the thefts are nothing new this year, but at this time of year the police want to warn of the phenomenon.
– It’s really nothing new, but when it gets dark and the Christmas shopping starts, we want to remind everyone who parks in large shopping areas to check that the car is really locked when you leave it, says Kristian Bergström, municipal police in Sollentuna north of Stockholm to DN .
He also points out that the thieves take advantage of people who are stressed.
– Maybe you should just run in quickly and buy a few things. And so you think the car is locked, but in fact the car is unlocked. Then it becomes very easy for the thief to pick up a computer, Christmas presents or whatever it may be.

● Make sure the car is properly locked before leaving it. Do a visual check. Note that the car behaves as it usually does when you lock it. Maybe it blinks and folds the side mirrors? Feel free to pull the door handle.
● Some cars are keyless, this means that the “key” sends out signals when you approach the car and unlocks some of the doors. Here you can try pulling on a door that should not normally be opened by the system, for example the tailgate.
● Avoid storing valuables in the car. Preferably take loose valuables with you before leaving the car. If that is not possible, hide computers, cell phones, valuable tools and bags.
