In the future, Russian children cannot be adopted to countries that allow gender reassignment. President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the law confirming the adoption ban on Saturday.

At the same time, Putin also approved another law that prohibits the distribution of material that encourages infertility. Both laws had already been approved by both chambers of the Russian Parliament.

The ban affects at least 15 countries, including Australia, Canada and Argentina, which still allow children to be adopted from Russia.

In recent years, President Putin has criticized the liberalism of Western countries and emphasized the importance of so-called traditional values.
