The Swedish Transport Administration hits back at criticism after the snow chaos on the E22: “Dangerous to compare with last year”

– There are quite big differences between what happened yesterday and what happened in January and it is a bit dangerous to compare that it was exactly the same thing, says Trafikverket’s press manager Bengt Olsson.

He believes that on Friday evening they managed to redirect the traffic from the E22 between Kristianstad and Hörby to other roads, including to the old E22. It is different, he says, from the snow chaos in January when many cars were completely stuck for much longer.

How can there still be people who are stuck for nine hours on the road?

– You almost have to ask them how they decided to go out and drive in the weather that was yesterday. We tried to inform that it can be difficult.

How do you react to the criticism that the Swedish Transport Administration did not learn from the snow chaos in January?

– I understand that you get frustrated when you get stuck, but I would like to see the day when we can control and own the weather in the world, says Bengt Olsson.
