You know exactly what you want from housing – and it’s not Final Fantasy

Housing in World of Warcraft is important to many people. We found out which features you definitely want.

A few days ago we started a survey on MeinMMO about the upcoming feature in World of Warcraft. We wanted to know from you what content you are hoping for from “Player Housing” and what content is not an option for you. You actively participated in the survey and gave us a clear picture of what is important to you – and what is not.

How was it to take part in the survey? A total of 1,333 people took part in the survey. While there were a few people who only selected a single answer, over half made at least 5 choices and therefore had a fairly concrete picture of what was expected of the housing system – and what was not.

No shop, no pressure and certainly a lot of freedom – the most important features

  • 74% believe that the housing feature needs many different designs to satisfy all peoples. All that was visible in the teaser trailer was a human house, which worried some people. However, Blizzard has already confirmed that there will be a lot more choice here.
  • 69% think it is important that there is “no compulsion” for housing. The feature should be separate from other mechanics. Anyone who is interested in housing should look into it. However, it should be interwoven as little as possible with other game content, especially in terms of character power.
  • For 68% of you, it is particularly important that all features must be playable in-game – either through drops, crafting or gold. Housing objects in the shop for real money are clearly rejected.
  • The least important features

Three other potential features that were not so well received landed at the bottom of the survey. If you look at the percentages, there is still a sizeable portion of the community that is interested in it.

  • Only 50% want the ability to create guild houses where the entire guild can stay and which can be used, for example, for large guild meetings.
  • 46% would like their house to come with certain comfort features and services, such as access to the auction house, a bank or portals to the most important places in the game world.
  • At only 29%, the option of being able to set up a shared apartment with other players in the game world was the least popular. Most people don’t like this option.
  • That’s what the community means

In the survey, some of our readers justified their opinion or provided further information.

It is particularly important to Vanzir that housing is not limited or tied to regular costs, such as in Final Fantasy:

Faith is first and foremost important to me and I hope that Blizz doesn’t copy it from Final Fantasy, that the houses cost rent and you are forced to be active because otherwise at some point you won’t be able to afford it anymore or you’ll lose your house again .

In the same way, I hope for good phasing so that everyone has the opportunity to have a house in the place where they want it and it is not determined by who comes first and is lucky – and the rest are unlucky.

One thing is important to Myuu79 that we hadn’t even thought of:

I’m missing two things here… Housing please be instantiated so that everyone can get a house (…). And don’t pay rent like in New World.

However, there are also a number of people who haven’t been able to use Housing yet and don’t really know what the feature is actually supposed to be for. This is how “Dude” writes:

If I ever thought of what to do with it, I can’t think of anything that the Garni doesn’t also offer. What I don’t need at all are other players in the environment I designed. Guild rooms, what for? That’s what the guild chat is for. I just don’t see any added value in housing, I’m sorry.

It will still take a few months for the housing feature to be released. Because there won’t be a release until the end of 2025 – if Blizzard can keep to the schedule. This means that Blizzard still has enough time to collect feedback from the community and respond to any requests.
We have all the known information about housing here for you, always up to date.
