The setbacks keep coming for the woman who was the richest woman in Africa. The British Foreign Office estimates that Isabel dos Santos “systematically abused her positions in public companies to embezzle at least £350 million,” or more than $400 million.

The two companies in question: Sonangol, which exploits the country’s oil, and Unitel, the major telecommunications operator.

At the end of September, she lost an appeal before the British courts against Unitel. She wanted to cancel another asset freeze of more than $500 million.
