Netflix Fantasy: There is a long history behind Spellbound
Spellbound looks back on a long production history, which was repeatedly delayed by the corona pandemic and other factors: The fantasy project had already been announced in 2017. However, nothing came of the planned release in 2019 by Paramount and the launch in 2022, which was switched to the streamer Apple TV+, did not take place either. Nevertheless, Skydance Animation (Luck) continued working on the US-Spanish co-production.
Seven years after the public first learned about Spellbound, the fantasy film is now premiering on Netflix. In the course of its creation it has already two previous titles tried and rejected again: Before the adventure gets its final name Spellbound The film ended up being called “Enchanted”. Split (“Split”) and then The Unbreakable Spell (“The Unbreakable Spell”).
