The fresh Classic Realms of World of Warcraft have launched and are immediately causing problems. There is a huge rush and capacity is reached quickly.
World of Warcraft Classic is restarting again. Some particularly large realms opened in all regions – and the rush was huge. In a very short time, many realms reached their limits and there were difficulties logging in.
What’s going on in WoW Classic? World of Warcraft Classic launched the “Anniversary” realms for WoW Classic last night. These are brand new realms to celebrate WoW’s 20th anniversary. This is the opportunity for everyone to start again on a realm “from scratch” and make a name for themselves on the server before large guilds have been founded or the content is already irrelevant again.
What happened that night? Even though the Realms opened at 11 p.m. our time on a weekday, the rush was huge. Within a few minutes, the status of almost all realms changed from “Recommended” to “Full”. Anyone who then wanted to log in either had to fight with a queue – or hope to get into it at all, because many only got the message “Connecting to the realm…” and then they couldn’t continue at all.
However, the initial rush has now subsided and it is now possible to log in.
Can you no longer play on the realms? Yes, that is still possible. Even if the realms are displayed as “full”, characters can usually still be created there. This is partly because the capacity of the realms has been significantly increased (compared to other classic realms), but also because the initial rush usually dies down quickly. While everyone who is interested usually gambles a lot on the first weekend, the rush slowly dies down over the next few days.
If you want to experience World of Warcraft Classic “from the beginning” again, you should take advantage of the opportunity now. It is not certain when – or if at all – Classic Realms will start “fresh” again. Anyone who misses the opportunity now may regret it later.
After 20 years it can also be said: WoW is more than just a game.
