Finnish clubs have a miserable season in the CHL –

No Finnish team is playing in the quarterfinals of the ice hockey CHL this season.

The bad season of the Finnish teams was sealed when Lahti Pelicans, who were the last hope, took the cauldron from Salzburg with a total of 1–7 goals.

The second part of Wednesday ended with Salzburg’s 5-0 home win. For Austria’s ice hockey pride, a place in the quarterfinals is only the first at the hockey Champions League level.

On Tuesday, Tappara lost in the quarterfinals to Swedish Färjestad, which was the number one team in the CHL regular season.

On Wednesday, reigning champion Geneve-Servette, among other things, secured its place in the next round, which progressed with a combined goals of 12-4 against another Swiss club, Lausanne.

Four Finns played in the ranks of Geneva-Servette; Mark Granlund, Sakari Manny, Teemu Hartikainen and Oula Palve. In the second part of Wednesday, in the 7–4 winning game, Palve and Hartikainen excelled in scoring.

Among the Finnish teams, only JYP in 2018 and Tappara in 2023 have been able to win the CHL championship.
