Peli-Karhut lost for the fourth time in the basketball EuroCup, when the Belgian Castors Braine proved to be better with a score of 87–80 in Kotka.

– We played at the upper limits and quite well when we started with narrow material Elina Koskimienen in absence. With a perfect shot, we might have managed to win, but ten points were left at the free throw line, among other things. Even now, it (the win) was about small things.

– In the big picture, this is a continuation of the fact that Finnish basketball women have started to do well on the courts, coach Roope Mäkelä continued.

For the Finnish club, the loss in Group F was bitter in terms of further dreams. In the final round, Mäkelä’s proteges will face German Keltern on November 28 away.

In theory, PeKa still has a small hope of a further place. However, it requires that the other teams’ games also end favorably for PeKa.

In an even match, Braine jumped out to an eight-point lead at the end of the third period, 69–61, and did not relinquish the lead. In the last period, PeKa could no longer get a hold of Braine, but the difference remained at around ten points the whole time.

PeKa’s performance rested on the shoulders of six players, and again the opponent’s bench was clearly (with a score of 31–12) tougher than Kotka’s. In addition, PeKa lost 20 possessions, which was too much.

Jade Williams collected on 23/7. There were other successes from the home team Anissa Pounds 16/4/3, Roosa Kosonen 12/8/3, Eve Brazil 12, Lauren Heard 11/8/7s and Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta 6/5/7s.

Peli-Karhut had beaten Braine 65–64 in the away game after rising from a 17-point deficit.
