Ukraine’s parliament on Tuesday approved a comprehensive budget for next year, with around 60 percent of spending earmarked for defense efforts.
Thus, Ukraine’s government expenditure to fight the Russian invasion is estimated to amount to 50 billion dollars, corresponding to around 550 billion kroner.
“The budget for 2025 has been adopted,” writes Prime Minister Denys Sjmyhal on Telegram:
“All taxes that citizens and companies pay next year go to the defense and security of Ukraine.”
Ukraine’s total budget is the equivalent of 3,600 billion hryvnias – around SEK 950 billion, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance’s calculations.
– This budget clearly defines our priorities: defense, security, support to the people, development and reconstruction of the country, bearing in mind our limited resources. These are the things that make us stronger and that lead to victory, Sjmyhal said in connection with the vote in parliament, Radan.
The budget must be approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before it becomes law.
