President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili to challenge the results of the country’s parliamentary elections, which are accused of being fraudulent, in court, the lawyer representing the president said on Tuesday.
According to the lawyer, the president has filed a complaint with the country’s constitutional court to annul the result of the October elections. In his complaint, Zurabišvili alleges large-scale abuses in the organization of the elections.
The Georgia Board of Elections released the final election results on Saturday. According to the result, the ruling party Georgian Dream would have received almost 54 percent of the vote, and the four-party opposition coalition just under 38 percent.
Together with the country’s president, the opposition has accused the Georgian dream of extensive election fraud.
