The president of the RN has made it his mission to rule out the bad apples for the next legislative elections. And set a rule that could remove Marine Le Pen from the National Assembly.
We tend to forget it, but Jordan Bardella is young, very young. And it is very likely due to a lack of experience that the ambitious president of the National Rally got entangled in a statement that will not serve the interests of his party at all. The young man has in fact set a rule for his party which will weaken Marine Le Pen in the future, live on television. “Not having a conviction on your criminal record is for me a number one rule when you want to be a parliamentarian of the Republic,” he said with great seriousness on BFMTV on December 18.
The president of the far-right party has been engaged for weeks in specific political work, which he has carried out personally since he said he was responsible for the failure of the RN in the last legislative elections: ensuring that his party can present and invest in each constituency, solid and credible candidates for the next elections renewing the National Assembly. And for Jordan Bardella, this requires candidates to have a past without legal disappointments. But clearly, Jordan Bardella has not thought sufficiently about the personal situation of Marine Le Pen, pursued by the courts who suspect her of embezzlement of public funds in favor of her party.
Barring a huge surprise which no one expects at the National Rally, Marine Le Pen will be sentenced at the end of this trial of European parliamentary assistants, even if the sentence requested by the prosecution – 5 years in prison including 2 prison terms and 5 years of ineligibility – could be softened by the court. Jordan Bardella has therefore set a rule which creates considerable discomfort for Marine Le Pen, who would be prevented, by virtue of it, from running in the next legislative elections, in her stronghold in the North. Especially since it is likely that these elections will take place early, before 2027.

Jordan Bardella knows this very well: Marine Le Pen’s criminal record is very likely not to be clean. And when the BFMTV journalist pointed this out to him, live, the young man was unable to contain his embarrassment, responding with a rather inappropriate pirouette: “Yes, with ifs… There are an appeal”, he launched, anticipating a conviction at first instance. “This one makes you whiter than white. And The call won’t confirm [cette condamnation]since Marine Le Pen is totally innocent,” he said.
The sequence was undoubtedly viewed by Marine Le Pen, who must have noticed that despite the confidence, the unpreparedness of her young president did her a great disservice. She also noted that Jordan Bardella did not reformulate his “number one rule” for future inaugurations, even adding that it was valid “for everyone”.
