November 15 was Therese Sjögran’s last day as sporting director at FC Rosengård after nine years in the post. For her, the move is to Manchester and a top job at Manchester City.
For the newly installed sports director Emelie Lundberg, who most recently came from the role of coach in the association’s B team but who previously, among other things, was in charge of the academy at KIF Örebro, the biggest task will be to secure a team that will defend the gold and secure games in the Champions League .
It will be no small task when several of the team’s biggest scorers in 2024 are on expiring contracts at the same time as team captain Caroline Seger has chosen to quit.
– You can never replace a Caroline Seger, but we have potential players who can take that position, but it is hard work ahead of us, says Emelie Lundberg to SVT Sport.
– Rosengård will not find someone with Seger’s routine, role as culture bearer and the influence she has had on the team – they need to create something new, says Hanna Marklund.
Recently, the club extended coach Joel Kjetselberg’s contract by two years.
But what does the team need, who will leave and who can be extra important next season? See what expert Hanna Marklund thinks in the clip above.
