Twelve years ago, the then cabinet decided that a new barracks should be built for the Marine Corps. They are currently housed in the Van Braam Houckgeest barracks in Doorn. A plan to build a new barracks in Vlissingen was canceled a few years ago due to resistance from the Marines.
