  • Large fire at hospital in Yekaterinburg

    The roof of a central hospital in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg is in flames.

    Patients and visitors are being evacuated and people are seen jumping from windows, according to a public Telegram channel.

    Images spread on social media show a large black plume of smoke rising from the hospital, write The Mirror.

    Right now there is no information on the number of injured.

    Police are investigating a suspected dangerous object in Linköping. On its website, the authority writes that an area has been cordoned off.

    The suspicious object must have been discovered at the university campus at Västra Valla in Linköping.

    The National Bomb Squad has been called to the scene.

  • Man to hospital after workplace accident

    At 06.30 the police received an alert about a workplace accident at a company in Hudiksvall.

    – An employee has received a large plate on one or both feet, says police spokesperson Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro.

    The man is aged 45 and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of the damage is unclear and a workplace accident report will be filed.

    In 2023, the police in Region Mitt received a total of 2,400 cases of crime in couple relationships. That is more than six per day, the police write on their website.

    Violence in close relationships increases during the holidays, and therefore the police carry out the crime prevention initiative Julfrid, before and during the Christmas holiday.

    – This week we have an extra focus on men’s violence against women, says operations leader Anders Wallner.

    The police will knock on doors, be in pub environments and in traffic in Västmanland, Uppsala County and Gävleborg.

    At the same time, a national campaign is starting regarding violence in intimate relationships and particularly vulnerable crime victims. It coincides with “Orange week” and the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Men’s Violence against Women.

  • Bus with passengers overturned

    For an unknown reason, a bus has overturned and is lying on its side on a major road in Robertsfors municipality.

    According to the emergency services, four people were in the bus.

    – We are there with a unit that is trying to evacuate the people in the bus, says fire chief Ola Lindström.

    An ambulance helicopter and police have also been called to the scene.

    – At least one person is in need of care, says police spokesperson Maria Linné.

    The accident has had a major impact on traffic with limited access just north of Storrödningsberg on road 726, the Swedish Transport Administration announces. The forecast is valid until 11 o’clock.

    Queen Silvia has fallen ill and therefore misses the upcoming state visit to Singapore.

    On its website, the Royal Palace writes that the queen has a respiratory infection.

    The royal couple was due to travel to Singapore on November 19.

  • Vaccinate yourself for free against HPV – at selected cinemas

    Women born in 1994-1999 are offered a free HPV vaccine at several cinemas by the Cancer Foundation, Filmstaden and Capio.

    The offer applies to the group that did not receive the latest variant of the vaccine at school and who are deemed to be at particularly high risk of being infected by the virus, which can cause cervical cancer.

    The vaccination will take place on November 21 and 23 at Filmstaden’s selected cinemas in Stockholm, Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg as well as in Gothenburg, Västerås and Gävle.

    To eradicate cervical cancer, 70 percent in this age group need to take the vaccine. If Sweden succeeds in this before the end of the year, the disease could be eradicated as early as 2027, the Cancer Foundation writes in a press release.

    A case of illness caused a total stop on the subway’s green line in both directions during the morning.

  • Theft of gold worth SEK 100,000 in Gävle

    During Sunday evening, the police were called to an address in Villastaden in Gävle due to a burglary.

    – Residents discover that there has been a break-in when they get home at 9 p.m., says police spokesperson Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro.

    One or more perpetrators have entered the villa and stolen gold items to the value of SEK 100,000.

    – Parts of the villa are cordoned off for technical examination, he says.

    The police have filed a burglary report.

  • Suspected fire in a workshop in Länna

    Shortly before 6 a.m., the emergency services were alerted to a burning car in an industrial area in Länna, Huddinge.

    On site, it was found that the fire had spread to a nearby building.

    Now they are working at the site with several resources to put out the fire.

    – It is not possible to rule out the risk of spread at the moment, says Sebastian Levin.

    Several companies are located in the building and are affected by the fire. The police suspect that it was arson and the classification is therefore now arson.

  • Motorist in collision with sports hall – one to hospital

    Early on Monday morning, a car crashed into a sports hall in Karlskoga.

    “The car has driven straight into the corner of the sports hall. The driver has been taken to hospital by ambulance,” says SOS NWT.

    The alarm came at 05.30 and according to NWT, the vehicle must have been recovered from the facade.

    Something has detonated at an apartment building in Hovsjö in Södertälje.

    – We received several calls from the area at 03.19 about a loud bang, says Mikael Pettersson at the police in Stockholm.

    – On site, we can ascertain damage in the entrance of an apartment building.

    There is no information that anyone has been injured, but the explosion has caused extensive damage around the entrance.

    – Among other things, ceiling tiles from the ceiling and insulation have fallen down, says Mikael Pettersson.

    The National Bomb Squad is called. The matter is classified as public-dangerous devastation.

  • Arrested knifeman in hospital

    Staff at the hospital in Ystad raised the alarm at 5 p.m. about a man who had entered the hospital’s laboratory, writes Sydsvenskan.

    – The man was under the influence of an unknown preparation when he was rummaging around in the laboratory. He had a knife with him in a bag, says Ted Eriksson, duty investigation officer at the police, to the newspaper.

    The police were able to arrest the man, who is in his 40s. He is suspected of serious crime against the Knife Act and illegal trespass.

  • Sumy blacked out after new Russian attack

    The city of Sumy in northern Ukraine has suffered a widespread power outage following a new Russian robot attack shortly after midnight local time, local authorities said.

    The death toll is also being written up after Sunday’s attack on a residential area in the city. At least ten civilians are reported to have been killed, among them a nine-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. 52 people were injured, according to the regional governor.

    Over 400 people have been evacuated from residential buildings that were damaged in the attack.
