The referees went out and reviewed the cross-checking – which took Linus Arnesson’s face – and after a couple of replays it was decided to award a match penalty against Per Åslund.
In the subsequent numerical disadvantage, Örebro’s Emil Larsson took the opportunity to decide with his 3–2 goal.
– It is completely unnecessary to take, it was carelessly done by Åslund who is so experienced, says TV4’s expert Petter Rönnqvist about the expulsion that paved the way for Örebro’s PP.
Crazy ending
Färjestad – who were the better team throughout the match – had a puck in the net with one minute and seven seconds remaining after Oskar Steen corralled it in via Jonas Arntzen’s back from a position behind the extended goal line.
But the goal was video-reviewed and after it appeared that the goalkeeper was disturbed in the goal area just before the goal, it was ruled out.
– It’s sad, says Färjestad’s coach Tomas Mitell, who thinks the team created enough to win.
