Venezuela released political prisoners | News in brief

Venezuela has released at least ten people who were imprisoned after the Venezuelan presidential election, according to the local human rights group Foro Penal on Saturday.

Director of a human rights organization Alfredo Romero wrote on the messaging service X that Venezuela has released political prisoners Las Crisálidas and from prisons called Yare III.

Venezuelan police arrested at least 1,800 people during protests after the presidential election in July.

The protests broke out when Nicolás Maduro announced that he had won the presidential election.

The integrity of Venezuela’s election results has been widely disputed both inside the country and abroad.
