Keiichiro Toyama developed Silent Hill, one of the most famous and influential horror games. His latest horror game is currently being received very positively on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Slitterhead is an action-horror game on Steam and the first game from Bokeh Game Studio. This was founded by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. There was a gameplay trailer for the game at the Summer Game Fest 2024.

Ghostly protagonist and bloody action
What does the trailer show? You play Hyoki. This is a kind of spirit that, although incorporeal itself, takes possession of living beings and controls them. The Hyoki has only one goal, which is to wipe out all Slitterheads. These are monsters that disguise themselves as humans and eat brains.
The setting is the streets of Kowlong, flooded with neon lights. Among the people of the city there are those who have a special bond with Hyoki. These “rarities” are crucial in the fight against the Slitterheads as they give you access to stronger abilities.
As Hyoki you can possess anyone. Quickly switching hosts is useful not only when exploring the city, but also in combat. When one body has reached the end of its strength, the next one is already waiting for you. In battle, you use blood to create weapons such as swords, claws or even a mini-MG.
How is the game currently being received? Since its release, 375 people have already written a review for it on Steam. Of these, 81% are positive, and the game is rated “very positive” overall.
Slitterhead feels like a PS3-era game to many, both for better and for worse. The fights are sometimes quite clunky and have room for improvement, but the worldbuilding, the atmosphere and the music often turn things around.
Slitterhead was released on November 8, 2024 for the following platforms:
