7.45 pm: Utrecht who was arrested after violent incidents in Amsterdam suspected of incitement
The Utrecht judge who was arrested for violent incidents in Amsterdam after the Ajax-Maccabi match is suspected of having published messages on social media with an inflammatory cracker. The Public Prosecution Service announced this today. He will remain in custody for fourteen days longer, the examining magistrate decided.
The man was arrested last weekend. The Amsterdam police then arrested four more suspects. They are between 18 and 37 years old and come from Amsterdam and Heerhugowaard. Two of them remain in custody, two have been released. They still remain suspects.

Thursday’s evening rush hour was the busiest rush hour of the year, Rijkswaterstaat reports. The roads were particularly busy in Utrecht, South Holland and North Holland. At its peak, there were 763 kilometers of traffic jams. This breaks the record of May 21. Then there was a peak of 723 kilometers.
Rijkswaterstaat attributes the many traffic jams to “the large number of road users in combination with a few impactful incidents”. For example, an accident happened before rush hour on the Merwedebrug (A27) near Gorinchem. The road was then completely closed for a long time, which caused traffic jams on surrounding roads during rush hour.
The ANWB, which also takes into account traffic jams on N-roads, previously reported that Thursday’s evening rush hour, with a peak of 1,159 kilometers of traffic jams, was the second busiest of the year.
2.30 pm: Police are looking for Houtense arsonist
The police are looking for a man who may have set two fires in Houten this summer. In a short period of time, two fires were started at locations close to each other. These fires involved the same type of vehicle. In both cases, the suspect is said to have moved using an electric scooter.
The first fire was on the night of Monday 12 to Tuesday 13 August, around 3.15 am at De Haag in Houten. This was a parked van. The second fire was on Wednesday morning, September 18, at the Leeuwerikweide in Houten. Four cars caught fire here.

A lot of smoke can currently be seen above the Heiligenbergerweg in Amersfoort. This is due to a burning playground equipment, says a spokesperson for the Utrecht Safety Region. There are two fire engines to fight the fire.
11.17 am: Car crashes into lamppost in Bunschoten
A motorist crashed into a lamppost on the Oostelijke Randweg in Bunschoten this morning. The car was seriously damaged and the lamppost was also damaged. The driver was not injured in the accident. It is not known how the accident could have happened.

Mayor Roland van Benthem of the municipality of Eemnes closed a house on Aartseveen last night. The police found items there on Monday that are used for the production of fireworks. The municipality of De Ronde Venen warns that several bangs will be heard on the Van Schie site on Constructieweg in Mijdrecht between 12 noon and 1 p.m. The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) detonates blocks of explosives there.
6.20 am: Person in water in Utrecht
A person fell into the water in the Vecht in Utrecht last night. That happened around 1 a.m. near Cornelis Dirkszstraat. A fire brigade diving team removed the person from the water. It is not known whether the person was injured.
