Prince Daniel’s health

Prince Daniel lives with a congenital kidney disease which means that he has suffered from reduced organ function throughout his life. Just weeks after Daniel proposed to Crown Princess Victoria, he learned that his kidneys were in such poor condition that he would have to undergo a kidney transplant.

The prince received his father’s kidney, and after the transplant in May 2009, Daniel has been doing well. But he has to take medicine daily.

– I don’t notice it. It’s more that you take medicine every day for the kidney to function, he told in Prins Daniel 50 år on SVT.
